My journey to becoming a Convene Chair has been full of highs and lows, and I am grateful for every step along the way.
I started my career as one of the first employees at a small investment firm in Georgia, where I spent twelve years growing alongside the company as it became a national provider (going from $200 million under management to over $7 billion). It was a formative season, but something was stirring. When I was invited to South Asia to work with an entrepreneurial training business, run by missionaries also starting a church, I fell in love with using business to help build the Kingdom. After that trip, I quit my job, moved to South Asia, and have been pursuing ways to use business to glorify God ever since!
I founded SCALE Consulting, serving faith-based organizations by developing and facilitating entrepreneurial training programs around the world (until the funding for this incredible initiative ran out). I also co-founded the Fields Corner Business Lab — the first coworking space in my neighborhood (that by God’s grace survived the pandemic). I also serve as an Adjunct Business Professor at Sattler College and a board member for Equipping Farmers International, where I am developing AgBusiness curriculum to be used in over 60 countries.
My leadership philosophy is based on the work of Andy Crouch, who defines leadership as being more concerned with the flourishing of others than your own — and defines flourishing as being “fully, abundantly, and gloriously alive.” That framing captures what I’ve always believed good leadership actually looks like. It isn’t about having the right answers or projecting authority. It’s about creating the conditions for the people around you to be fully, abundantly, gloriously alive — what God created them to be! This conviction shapes how I coach — I’m less interested in giving advice than in asking questions that bring what’s already inside to the surface and co-creating the next step on the journey.
My faith is the foundation to that philosophy. I believe God cares deeply about the work we do, the businesses we build, who we lead, and the leaders we’re becoming. God is present in every decision, the uncertain seasons, the victories, and in the everyday moments with the people we lead. I am a Convene Chair because I want to be part of a team who want to be fully, abundantly, and gloriously alive and create the same reality for those in whom God has entrusted us.
I live in Boston, and when I’m not working, I’m most likely fly fishing, enjoying the outdoors or watching the Florida Gators with entirely too much enthusiasm.
