My passion is to help individuals address and overcome the challenges associated with positions of greater scope and authority. I also help retiring executives plan for the unknowns of retirement. There is so much more about retirement beyond the financials.
Hello, I am Brian “Coach” Landry. I grew up as a full-blooded Cajun in the swamps of Louisiana. I am the son of a WWII Army Veteran and number 10 of 11 kids. “Coach” is what my friends and colleagues call me. It’s a nickname I picked up in the Air Force and is a play off the great Dallas Cowboys Coach, Tom Landry (No relation). I married my high school sweetheart 38 years ago. Jessica and I have two very successful adult sons and three angels we call our grandbabies. After graduating Distinguished Graduate from my ROTC program, together we set out on a 25-year Air Force career. I flew (Navigator) C-141Bs delivering combat ready troops to war zones, sometimes by landing on a nice runway, sometimes by airdrop means, for the first half of my career.
During my Air Force service, I lived and practiced the art of leadership. I believe the US Military is the best leadership laboratory in the world. But, I did more than just live it, I taught it. The second half of my AF career was primarily spent developing AF leaders and teams, either teaching graduate level courses to officers, or conducting strategic research for the Air Force Research Institute. Culture development was also a huge focus. As a LtCol, I was among the very few selected to pursue a Ph.D. in Leadership. I attended Gonzaga University where I earned my terminal degree in 2008.
I have a proven record as a development coach, educator, and entrepreneur with over 40 years’ experience in leadership development. Following Air Force retirement in 2013, I founded a consulting company focused on leadership development and organizational development. In this capacity, I have served in the petrochemical, equipment manufacturing, healthcare and higher education industries. I have leveraged my successful military career, business experience, and formal education to create a unique set of skills related to leadership excellence and team development. I have been lauded for the ability to connect with line-workers, then seamlessly having a strategic conversation with the COE. I can effectively work with all levels of leadership.
In addition to my professional experiences, I have given back to my community by serving in leadership roles for nonprofit organizations and numerous advisory boards.
My passion is to help individuals address and overcome the challenges associated with positions of greater scope and authority. I also help retiring executives plan for the unknowns of retirement. There is so much more about retirement beyond the financials.
Convene provides a wonderful and supporting network for me to facilitate this passion. All leaders inevitably face significant challenges. Not only does Convene provide a venue for connecting with other high-power leaders, but has the structure to make it efficient, confidential, and productive in a very supporting community.
I am driven to help others find their calling and to glorify God in everything we do!
