The words discipline and disciple are both derived from Latin, so it’s not surprising that when you become a disciple of Christ you should expect to exercise self-discipline in all matters. Self-discipline is not simply a proven way to get ahead; it’s also an integral part of God’s plan for your life.
Most of life’s greatest rewards come as the result of hard work and perseverance. May you, as a disciplined disciple be willing to do the work and keep doing it until you’ve earned the rewards that God has in store for you.
“No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it” Hebrews 12:11
