Leadership, in my view, consists of the merger of heart and science (in that order). Leadership in God’s Kingdom is learned, driven by character, and operated with excellence.
Heart generates vision statements, mission statements and values developed in relationship with the Holy Spirit living in and through us.
Science can be compared to operating with the best business practices under the anointing and direction of the Holy Spirit; working with excellence.
God is using all things we experience for our good because we love Him and are called to the purpose of being transformed in His image. God’s image, nature and character coming through us at work is what the world around us so desperately needs to see.
Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life
One of Jesus’ titles is Wonderful Counselor, so we always have access to the heart [mind] of God. “The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.” – Proverbs 20:5.
God’s original intent is that our thoughts and imagination are intended to flow from Him. This is what the world around us needs to see. Your words and actions will follow the thoughts that you have planted in your heart. Our thoughts are generated generally by the Wisdom of God or the wisdom of this world. The Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. So, are your thoughts God-generated?
In the book that God wrote He tells us that as an act of worship, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” – Romans 12:2.
This instruction is designed for the entirety of our lives.
Here’s the take away
It’s not about self-focus or self-effort, but God’s focus and effort working through us.
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” – Philippians 2:13.
As Christ Followers wanting to honor God in all that we do, we must operate with the understanding that we are in the presence of the God. He has given you the vision, talents, positioning, appointment, anointing and calling to impact your sphere of influence as He sees fit.
Given that, He has a specific way and timing in mind for each of us to accomplish His desires. We are to step into whatever He prompts us to do and allow Him to be responsible for the results.
His instruction to us is simple, yet difficult to walk out on our own. We must rely on His grace and the Holy Spirt to direct our steps, leaning not on our own understanding, and acknowledging Him in all that we do.
Be a “hope dealer” and inspire faith in others.
