JT Smith

JT is a servant leader with a passion to help Christian business leaders unlock their potential and transform their business to honor God.

Our lives are the sum of the choices we make. Some choices are more important than others, but one choice changes everything. In the bible, Joshua says “Then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Can you also say: “As for me and my business, we will serve the Lord”?

JT is a certified Professional Leadership Coach and is launching a Convene advisory group to serve business leaders in the Portland/Vancouver area.

JT’s career experience uniquely qualifies him to support business leaders. JT has completed both a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Louisville and an Executive MBA from Vanderbilt University. His career began at GE in their acclaimed Edison Engineering Program. Early in his career, he held a broad array of positions including advanced technology, manufacturing engineering, purchasing, and service sales. While at GE JT was promoted to an executive position as a Quality Leader responsible for the Global Six Sigma Center of Excellence. Next, JT joined Philips in 2005 to help build their services business. After delivering record profitability improvements, JT was asked to lead the 3,300+ person, $1.4B services team. During his 4+ years of leadership, the team delivered profitable growth and record-setting levels of customer satisfaction. Most recently, JT served as COO for Philips North America, before being called to Convene.

Currently, JT serves as Chairman of the Board for Global Scholars, Vice-Chair of Student Impact for Junior Achievement of Oregon and Southwest Washington, and is the Secretary for his local church board. He has been married for over 30 years and has 3 grown children. JT enjoys the outdoors and activities like hiking, tennis, water, and snow skiing.
