Leader Isolation

Being a leader can be exhilarating, challenging, rewarding and fun. But there can also be a down-side. Often dismissed and rarely discussed, many leaders are plagued by feelings of isolation once they take on the top job.

A Harvard Business Review post noted that over half of CEOs feel a sense of loneliness, and 61% believe it hinders their performance. First-time CEOs are particularly susceptible to this isolation. Nearly 70% of first-time CEOs who experience loneliness report that the feelings negatively affect their performance.

Leader isolation is a problem.

Leaders owe it to themselves and more importantly their organizations to make sure this isolation does not impact their effectiveness. One of the key ways to mitigate loneliness and isolation in positions of leadership is to seek a peer-advisory group like Convene.

These trusted advisors provide:

  • Business Insight
  • Encouragement
  • and Accountability

They inspire each other toward industry-leading performance with big Kingdom impact. The brief video above of several Convene members speaks to their experience in overcoming isolation.

If you want to step away from isolation and into community, consider joining a Convene Peer-Advisory Group.
