Mickey’s foundation in leadership began during his college years as a football player, where he served as the defensive team captain for two years, earning all-conference awards and maintaining a strong academic record as an honor student on the academic dean's list. He graduated with a degree in pre-med.

Following college, he served in the US Army as a 1st Lt, where he held the role of Executive Officer and graduated as the honor graduate of his US Army Signal Officer Class. His military training instilled in him a strong sense of duty, resilience, and strategic discipline.

After his military service, Mickey transitioned to a career in athletic leadership as an Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. In his role as Athletic Director, he led departments with 45 full-time coaches and 3 athletic trainers, overseeing over 600 athletes across multiple sports. Under his guidance, these teams consistently competed in and won state championships. As a head football coach, Mickey transformed underperforming teams into perennial winners, earning multiple Coach of the Year accolades and ranking among the top 5 winningest coaches in the DFW area with 180 career wins at the time of his retirement.

In the business sector, Mickey has partnered closely with leaders to accelerate organizational growth, with several clients quadrupling in size and revenue. His clients have achieved significant milestones, including the Dallas Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" and Middle Market 50 fastest-growing company awards. He has supported companies in achieving tenfold revenue growth, with some reaching $20 million, $60 million, and even $200 million in annual revenue. Mickey holds a Master's degree in Athletic Administration and has earned Leadership Coaching certifications from GiANT Worldwide, Global Coach Group, and US Leadership, positioning him as a sought-after authority in leadership and business growth.

Outside of his professional work, Mickey and his wife Sarah celebrate 37 years of marriage, are parents to five children, and have three grandchildren. He actively volunteers for several non-profits, including Genesis Women's Shelter of North Texas and Cornerstone Food Kitchen in downtown Dallas. At his church, he leads men’s ministry, organizes mission trips to the Amazon, and teaches workshops on integrating faith into the workplace and empowering men to lead both at work and at home.

I chose to become a CEO Board Chair with Convene because I believe in empowering Christian business leaders to pursue excellence, lead with purpose, and honor God in their work and lives. Throughout my career, I've been driven by two foundational commitments: to do everything with excellence and to impact others in ways that encourage and empower them to fulfill God’s calling. Convene provides the ideal platform to live out these commitments by helping CEOs and business owners grow as leaders, succeed in their businesses, and deepen their faith. As a Convene Chair, I feel called to help leaders get unstuck, realize their God-given potential, and grow closer to Christ.
